Corvus corax
Personal Project, 2024
The images and final Interpretive Panel project were inspired by my favorite animal at the Nature & Science Center in Austin, the Common Raven. Sadly, the bird they have in their care, was a former pet who imprinted on humans and cannot be released back into the wild. Luckily, the center took him in and he’s getting great care and daily visitors. This panel outlines some of the more fascinating facts about Ravens including their outstanding intelligence and memory. Each image was hand-painted with acrylic gouache. The Raven’s head and skull were painted separately and then superimposed on top of each other.
